It's nice when it's needed but it makes dragging windows around most other times very annoying as they randomly snap to things and it can't be turned off. The screen snapping is another feature that isn't well thought out. It probably works well during screen sharing for presentations but for any kind of productivity that needs multi-tasking it's a slow workflow having to frequently go in and out of fullscreen mode, especially when they animate all the transitions. It's not the easiest thing to even set up:įew people know about the hidden hover or press-hold options on buttons. Is Apple's clunky screen-splitting really used by 'Mac power users'? I've never seen a single person ever use it, and 'power users' use apps like BetterSnapTool or Magnet to do the job properly. IE if in work mode, these notifications are allowed. Just plunk them near the cursor and limit refocusing to cases where it is absolutely necessary, like you say. I have no idea why these dialogs have to be centre placed if a mouse is tracking. Especially at startup but the whole idea that a dialog should be able to refocus what you are doing (often at the worst possible time) is anti user and they sometimes come in spurts so you're going somewhere with your mouse and just before you get there a dialog box pops up in the centre of the screen and you're forced to move to it (because keyboard toggling for the options isn't working for example) and click it away and go back to what you were doing, only for another dialog box to pull focus away from you just before you get there. 12/9/2023 0 Comments Plantronics voyager 5220You will also get three beeps when someone joins in on a conference call in which you are the primary person. It’s not an indication that something is wrong so much as it’s to inform you that it is what it is, so to speak. On conference calls-and this is very rare but it does occur-you may get three, rapid beeps in your ear to inform you that someone on the conference call has a different firmware than your own. It’s nothing more than an indication that you can’t adjust the volume anymore in that direction. While you typically get a single beep when adjusting the volume up or down, you’ll get multiple beeps when you reach the maximum or minimum volume. Of course, you may not be used to hearing it if you more often associate incoming phone calls with the noise and vibration of your cell phone or home phone. For instance, you’ll likely get three tones in your ear if there is an incoming phone call. Typically, the only other kinds of beeping sounds you’re going to get through your Plantronics headset are of the responsive variety. Thankfully, almost everything about the Plantronics universe has remained roughly the same, so Poly seems to be going down the path of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” which is good for current Plantronics device owners and excellent for future consumers. While Poly has maintained the level of high-quality technology that Plantronics is known for, they may institute their own ways of doing things in new devices. Also, it’s important to know that Plantronics is no longer Plantronics but is now Poly. For instance, the Poly Voyager 5200 may give you two, rapid and high-pitched beeps when out of range, while the Poly CS540 may give you two, low-pitched beeps instead. Occasionally, you may run into different versions that essentially amount to the same thing. Do All Plantronics Headsets Emit The Same Beeps?įor the most part, they do. Since some models are different, it’s hard to say how many beeps, but they will be rapid, and it won’t be something you hear often. If your Plantronics headset is no longer paired to the base or your smartphone, it will emit several rapid beeps. You will also see a red LED light lit up on your Plantronics charging base. Three rapid beeps are to let you know that your mic is muted, and you should probably unmute it if you plan on talking to anyone anytime soon. If you do get too far out of range, your headset will emit two, rapid beeps to inform you of the matter.įortunately, it will also give you a single, solid beep once you’re back in range. It’s easy to forget that when you set your phone down and it’s no longer on your person, you can walk out of range of your phone. It will only stop when you recharge your Plantronics headset. This beeping isn’t limited, so it won’t stop after some time has passed. If you’re dealing with low battery status, you’ll get a single, low-volume beep every ten to fifteen seconds. It can occasionally happen when your head bumps up against something, or you lay on a pillow. Now, the hearing volume thing is self-caused, meaning that it won’t beep in your ear unless you physically reach up and touch the appropriate button for adjusting the volume. Final Words Breaking Down The Beeps And What They MeanĪs aforementioned, a beeping in your ear is your Plantronics headset trying to inform you of something, and there are a variety of meanings to them. How Do You Keep Up With All Of The Beeps And Their Meanings?.Do All Plantronics Headsets Emit The Same Beeps?.Breaking Down The Beeps And What They Mean. 12/9/2023 0 Comments Google drive google workspaceOwnership can be given away by the owner, but not taken by anyone else - the onus is on the owner to transfer ownership. The person who created the file or folder will initially be the owner. You will, of course, also need to have granted them appropriate access permissions to the file in order for them to actually see it once they've followed the link.Įvery file and folder in the My Drive section of Google Drive must have one owner (and this owner cannot be a Google Group, but it can be a non-personal account). Since all Drive files and folders are essentially just links, you can use the web address to bookmark items in your browser, or send the link to others by copying and pasting. Therefore, you can't rely on a folder structure to a) give context to a file, or b) help other people locate it. What's more, because of the collaborative nature of Google Drive, you could share access to a document without sharing access to the folder structure around it. It would still be discoverable via its web address, and via the search box. In other words, the same file can appear in more than one location simultaneously.Īlternatively, a file could sit in no folder at all. Indeed, because the documents you see in your Drive are essentially just web links it makes it possible for files to be linked to from multiple folders. Every file has a unique ID which forms part of its web address, and (unlike with a Windows filepath) this address remains the same regardless of any folder location you may try to impose. Yes, you could impose some order by adding files to folders, but this does not actually change the underlying structure. By its very nature there's no real structure to Google Drive: it's just a big pot of files. They've applied the same approach to Google Drive.ĭon't expect Drive to look tidy. Origin: Unknown but believed to originate from India When the Cullinan was first discovered, certain signs suggested that it could have been part of a much larger crystal, but no discovery of the ‘missing half’ has ever been authenticated. It eventually yielded nine major and 96 smaller brilliant-cut stones. The Cullinan was cut by Joseph Asscher and Company of Amsterdam, who examined the enormous crystal for around six months before determining how to divide it. The Cullinan was discovered by Frederick Wells, a mine superintendent in Transvaal, South Africa in 1895 on an inspection tour of the Premier Mine. It was cut from the 3,106 carat Cullinan, the largest diamond crystal ever found. I’ve tried with and without live mode and with and without Raw mode, but it seems to still do that “processing” action, in all cases, which blurs parts of the image, or if it doesn’t, it has part of the image already blurred as soon as I snap it. I know with iPhone 12 Pro Max, there are additional settings, such as Scene Detection and Smart HDR among others which I have enabled, but I’m not sure which way to set these to get things back like before where it stops blurring any parts of the image.Īny insight or tips on how to fix are greatly appreciated. On previous iPhones, each image was always fully clear with no blur in any part of it unless I snapped it too quickly before it could properly focus or if I shook to much while snapping it. I have also noticed that, sometimes, the entire image will appear clear as soon as I snap it, but then a processing timer quickly appears for a few seconds which, after it disappears, whatever processing was just happening, causes that same blur situation to occur even though it was completely clear in those couple of seconds after I snapped it but before that processing occurred. It appears to be focusing on one particular part of the image or an object in the image while the rest is blurred. When I take pictures with my iPhone 12 Pro Max, the entire image is not coming clear. 12/9/2023 0 Comments Undying loyaltyNothing that a believer in Christ does, nor anything that is done to us, can cause God to stop loving us (Romans 8:35–39). God is loyal to us even when we are not loyal to Him, and His loyalty is so much a part of His character that He wouldn't be God without it (2 Timothy 2:13). God is "the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations" (Deuteronomy 7:9). Anyone who puts his or her faith in Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16–18 Ephesians 2:8–9). We see this primarily in the fact that He made the way of salvation available and extends the offer to all (2 Peter 3:9 Acts 4:12 Galatians 3:24–29). God pledges His love to all people, even those living in rebellion to Him (Romans 5:8). Without His initial, unfailing commitment to love us we wouldn't understand how to be loyal to other people. God is the basis for our understanding of loyalty. Our desire for undying loyalty stems from our need to be in a relationship with the God who would die out of loyalty and love for us. As people we long to have friends and family who are on our side no matter what we do because we were created to be in relationship with a God who does just that. While the Bible doesn't talk about loyalty very much by name, the concept of loyalty is demonstrated throughout the Bible. And it leaves out perhaps the most painful truth: that the perpetrators of this atrocity have yet to answer for it.Loyalty is giving consistent allegiance or support to a person or institution. There’s also the severe psychological injury we’ve incurred, traceable through the staggering rise of psychiatric disorders over the past few years. It leaves out how, last summer, the rotting grain left in the destroyed silos was left to burn for a month, so that again the city had to witness the sight of smoke pouring from the port. Yet this litany sanitizes the extended horror, leaving out: the rescue and cleanup efforts left to ordinary citizens, the people with destroyed homes who couldn’t access their own money for repairs, the homeless who couldn’t afford to feed themselves, the hospitals that had too little medicine or electricity to treat the wounded, the people viciously beaten and detained during protests demanding justice. Now, three years since the port explosion, the losses are well known: some 220 dead more than 7,000 injured, many with long-term disabilities about 70,000 homes destroyed and 300,000 people left homeless. This was the country whose capital city exploded. Pharmacy shelves were bereft of goods, gas station queues were kilometers long, and, at night, streets and houses were pitch-black without electricity. Many Lebanese could no longer afford fuel, food or medicine, but all those things were in scarce supply anyway. This was an entirely illegal maneuver - a theft, in fact - but undertaken in collusion with the dons in government. To offset their losses, banks had frozen the money in depositors’ accounts and restricted withdrawals to an amount barely enough for daily necessities. Lebanon’s economy, designed to function as a giant Ponzi scheme among the banks, the central bank and the government, had finally failed - as many economists had warned it would. It was several months into the pandemic and about a year into a financial collapse that had already plunged most of the country into poverty and sent the currency into free fall. 12/8/2023 0 Comments Hex fiend load tableD&D Hex Mapping Hierarchy Quick Reference Hex TypeĭM Tip: You can easily create a complete D&D homebrew campaign by starting with a single atlas hex with a Tier 4 adventure location/BBEG. Serendipitous, no? Below is a quick reference to how the hex-mapping hierarchy works together. Each of D&D’s tiers of play coordinates with a level of our mapping. It’s top-down worldbuilding, which also means we have yet to address 80% of the worldbuilding a Dungeon Master may want to use. The player characters are speaking with councils of kings, arch magisters, and the like. They are no longer visiting hamlets and backwater temples. When a D&D party reaches 17th level and beyond, these are the critical locations to their ongoing campaign. They include major cities, important fortifications and power seats, cornerstone religious sites, monsters of incredible power, critical ruins, and UNESCO-worthy world wonders.Īn atlas hex with a landmark location deal with the highest level, tier four, adventures. These are the significant, world-recognizable landmarks in the world. Then we finished the remainder of natural geography and started on human geography by discussing landmark locations. Instead, we varied those large swaths of uniform biomes using number generation. That means we have fewer messy atlas hexes split by different types of biomes. It’s also helpful because Earth’s biome divisions tend to band around latitudinal lines divisible by six. That form factor allows us to neatly stack the pole-to-pole latitude of an Earth-like world into 30 hex rows. Mapping biomes based on latitude is straightforward, using atlas hexes that measure 6° in diameter from side to side. Two years ago, we first broached the addition of adding hexes to our world map. But first, we should refresh ourselves on atlas hex basics. We’ll finish today’s topic by showing how to fill an atlas hex with biome variations. This hex-mapping system allows you to easily transition in scale from an entire world down to a view the size of your neighborhood.Īs part of the hex map hierarchy, we’ll discuss overland travel pace in D&D as a short sidebar and why the alternative method I use is much easier to run at the table. Part of our introduction to region hex-mapping for your D&D worldbuilding will be discussing how the hierarchy of map hexes all come together like a matryoshka doll. Today we’re increasing the magnitude of our worldbuilding process to look at what’s inside an atlas hex. If you need a refresher on any of the steps so far, you can find links to the individual articles on the Worldbuilding Process page. Now, last time we put our attention to Dominion Worldbuilding. In 1908, an American donated funds in the name of his stepmother, Mrs. She agreed, and the school that would become Rift Valley Academy was born. The first students met in a missionary home until the chapel building was finished, giving them their first classroom. In 1906, faced with the dilemma of abandoning either his children or his missionary calling, Charles Hurlburt asked new missionary Josephine Hope to teach his children. The school gained national recognition in the arts and athletics, and global recognition in academics.Īt present, RVA serves about 500 students from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe, and the school continues its march toward spiritual vibrancy and academic excellence. Subsequent decades saw continued growth in enrollment and facilities, as well as a focus on creating a nurturing environment for RVA’s students. In 1967, under Roy Entwistle’s leadership, RVA was the first school in Africa to receive American accreditation. The school established athletic, music, and drama programs, and a spirit of educational excellence emerged. Kenya’s independence in 1963 burgeoned the missionary population and launched an era of growth at RVA. RVA expanded its facilities and extended education through the 12th grade, hosting its first graduating class in 1950. They pleaded for teachers and funding, recognizing that the school was vital to parents’ ability to stay on the field. Herb and Mildred Downing took up the mantle of leadership during this lean period.
